ABOUT

Our Project

Sumak Allpa Tour Agency is located in the heart of the Amazon Jungle. This agency serves as the profit side of our Non-Profit organization, Sumak Allpa. The tours help fund the rehabilitation of the primates on our island. We work to let these animals live as the do in the wild, and our 115-hectare island allows us to do this. On the island they face some natural threats as they do in the wild, and here they are introduced into their natural environment. Ultimately, our goal is to see reproduction and relocate them to areas where the species has disappeared.

Our Staff

Hector Vargas

Hector is a Kichwa native who grew up learning everything about the forest. He developed a passion for primates, and is now our Director of the organization and company. He is our main guide and fluent in Spanish and English. He has worked along side BBC for several filming projects, and continues to achieve many conservation efforts. He works with guiding and all the logistics of the trips.

Mauricio & Sixto

Two of our other amazing guides, Mauricio and Sixto, work primarily with guiding you through the forest. They are also a locals here and grew up within the forest. They are spectacular at spotting all species of animals, and will show you the life of a true Amazonian.

We are working to expand our efforts in the preservation and support of endangered indigenous peoples and their culture, language, and traditional way of life in the Ecuadorian Amazon region.
