Sumak Allpa and YasuniLAND Day Trip

  • Our adventure starts at 8:00 in the morning from Coca. We take a boat to the “Sumak Allpa Environmental Education and Biodiversity Management Center” (40 minutes by boat)

  • Here, we will introduce environmental information.

  • We will walk in the forest to encounter some of the nine species of monkey on the island.

  • Return to Coca for lunch

  • At 2:00 pm we will go to visit YasuniLAND (10 minutes by boat)

  • Here, there is a 45 meter tall tower where you can over look Coca, the Rio Napo, and the surrounding jungle

  • You can also observe many species of birds

  • The walk has many plants and includes medicinal information

  • We will spend a total of 2 hours at YasuniLAND, and then return to Coca.

Yasuni Day Trip

  • Our adventure starts at 5:30 in the morning from Coca, the entrance to the Amazon, where we navigate on the Napo River to the “Yasuní National Park”. Visit of the clay licks of parakeets and parrots

  • Cultural activities of the kichwa community of Añangu.

  • Small walk in the “Yasuní National Park” and to see view from the 45 meter canopy tower. 

  • Departure on the Napo River and by canoe 2 hours to the “Sumak Allpa Environmental Education and Biodiversity Management Center”.

  • Introducing environmental information.

  • Walk in the forest to encounter the different primate species of the island.

  • Return to Coca (45 minutes boat drive).

  • Make sure to bring bug repellent and sunscreen!

Toxic Tour

Anchor 1

The toxic tour focuses on showing the impact and responsibility of the oil industries. Here, you get to see firsthand the damage that the oil industry has caused to the farming sector, environment, and ultimately to the people and animals.

  • Start in Coca 8:00 am

  • Ride from Coca to Sacha Camp and Shushufindi Camp (2 hours by car)

  • First stop, on Sacha Central Facility where we you will receive a general over view in how oil camps operate in the Amazon

  • Visit to pools where you can see how waste water was dumped and buried by Texaco company, and observing crude remaining from spills and pools that over flows directly into the farming areas

  • Observe a flame chimney and understanding the wide impact on the insect population

  • Visit to Loma Del Tigre community and chat about social impacts of oil exploitation

  • Visit an open pool where you can eye witness how Texaco dumped waste irresponsibly

2 Days 1 Night Tours

Sumak Allpa, Limoncocha, and Yasuni

Day 1

  • Our adventure starts at 8:00 in the morning from Coca. We take a boat to the “Sumak Allpa Environmental Education and Biodiversity Management Center” (40 minutes by boat)

  • Here, we will introduce environmental information.

  • We will walk in the forest to encounter some of the nine species of monkey on the island.

  • Lunch is provided on the island

  • At 2:00 in the afternoon we leave for Limoncocha Biological Reserve. (40 minutes by boat, and 10 minutes by car)

  • You will receive a tour of the lagoon where you will have the opportunity to observe many species of birds and monkeys

  • At night, we will observe the bioluminescent fireflies, and black caimen

  • You will spend the night in Pashpancho where we will provide dinner

Day 2

  • We start at 5:00 in the morning.

  • After a nice breakfast we head to Yasuni! (1 hour by boat)

  • Yasuni is home to many species of parrots, plants, animals, and primates

  • We will start the morning off at the tower to observe any birds and primates

  • Next, the clay licks where parrots gather to eat

  • We will also hike throughout the forest to observe the different species of animals

  • Finally, another chance at observing the parrots at the clay licks within the forest.

  • After lunch we have the opportunity to visit the Quichua Community of Añangu

  • Return to Coca (4 hours by boat)

Day 1

 

  • Our adventure starts at 8:00 in the morning from Coca. We take a boat to the “Sumak Allpa Environmental Education and Biodiversity Management Center” (40 minutes by boat)

  • Here, we will introduce environmental information.

  • We will walk in the forest to encounter some of the nine species of monkeys on the island.

  • Lunch is provided on the island

  • At 2:00 in the afternoon we leave for Limoncocha Biological Reserve. (40 minutes by boat, and 10 minutes by car)

  • You will receive a tour of the lagoon where you will have the opportunity to observe many species of birds and monkeys

  • At night, we will observe the bioluminescent fireflies, and black caimen

Day 2

 

  • Early breakfast

  • We will then go bird watching at the lagoon to spot some of the rare birds in this area

  • Next, a two to three hour hike of the surrounding forest so observe different species of animals and plants

  • Return for lunch!

  • Then go on one more walk through the forest

  • Return to Coca (2 hours by boat)

  • We will have a nice breakfast, and then head to Yasuni! (1 hour by boat)

  • Yasuni is home to many species of parrots, plants, animals, and primates

  • We will start the morning off at the tower to observe any birds and primates

  • Next, the clay licks where many parrots gather to eat

  • After, a hike through the forest to observe the different species of animals and plants

  • We will take another chance at observing the parrots at the clay licks within the forest.

  • Lunch at Yasuni

  • Night walk to observe nocturnal species, frogs, insects, snakes, and maybe even a jaguar!

  • Dinner, and camp at Yasuni

 

Day 3

 

  • Wake up for an early breakfast

  • We will take the boat to observe the parrots in case weather permitted seeing the day before

  • A long hike in the forest will follow, taking the time to observe species of animals, plants, and beautiful views.

  • Lunch at Yasuni

  • Next, we will go to the Añongu community to see the cultural activities of the people here

  • Return to Coca (3 hours by boat)

Cocaya River Dolphin Excursion

Day 1

 

  • Our adventure starts at 8:00 in the morning from Coca. We take a boat to the “Sumak Allpa Environmental Education and Biodiversity Management Center” (40 minutes by boat)

  • Here, we will introduce environmental information.

  • We will walk in the forest to encounter some of the nine species of monkey on the island.

  • Lunch is provided on the island

  • At 2:00 in the afternoon we leave for Limoncocha Biological Reserve. (40 minutes by boat, and 10 minutes by car)

  • You will receive a tour of the lagoon where you will have the opportunity to observe many species of birds and monkeys

  • At night, we will observe the bioluminescent fireflies, and black caimen

 

Day 2

 

  • We start at 5:00 in the morning.

  • We will have a nice breakfast, and then head to Yasuni! (1 hour by boat)

  • Yasuni is home to many species of parrots, plants, animals, and primates

  • We will start the morning off at the tower to observe any birds and primates

  • Next, the clay licks where many parrots gather to eat

  • At 10:00 am, the public boat will meet us at Yasuni and we will make our journey to Cocaya

  • Approximately 1 hour into the trip we will stop in Pañacocha for lunch

  • For here about 5 more hours on boat until we reach Rocafuerte then we change to private canoe. One more hour and we reach Cocaya.

  • We will have dinner and settle into our cabins

 

Day 3

 

  • Wake up early for breakfast

  • Go to see the famous pink and gray river dolphins

  • Then take a tour of the lagoons to observe different species of birds and monkeys

  • Back to the lodge to have lunch

  • After lunch, take a walk through the jungle

  • Return to feed and observe the river dolphins

  • Back to Rocafuerte to sleep

 

Day 4

 

  • A full travel day

  • We wake up a 5:00 am

  • The public boat picks us up at 5:30 am

  • We will stop in Pañacocha for lunch

  • Return to Coca between 3 and 5 depending on the river

Sumak Allpa Tours

Shiripuno Tour

Day 1

 

  • We start in Coca at 8:00 am driving on the Auca road for 2 hours to the Shiripuno River

  • Checking intangible zone controls and board a canoe for an hour and a half hour ride

  • Arrive to our camp site at Gaba’s family

  • Lunch will be served on our campsite

  • Later in the afternoon we drive 45 minutes down river for piranha fishing, walk in the forest, and coming back at night for caimen spotting

  • Late dinner on the campsite

 

Day 2

 

  • Wake up at 6:00 am

  • Breakfast 6:30 am

  • We will go on a four hour hike escorted by Waroni warriors, and learn how they use the forest

  • Visit a view point of the forest

  • Lunch at the camp

  • Cultural activities performed by the women

  • Also, learning about the blow pipe and spears with the men

  • Dinner at the camp site

 

Day 3

 

  • Wake up at 5:30

  • 5:45 am early bird watching on the Shiripuno river

  • Breakfast at 8:00 am

  • Waroni ethnobotany, learning the Waronis plant use

  • Lunch at the campsite

  • Ride back to Shiripuno bridge (2 hours by boat)

  • Return to Coca (2 hours by car)
